Start/Stop SQL Server from command line


You can using the following script to start/stop SQL Server services using command line:

SQL Server Database Engine(both SQL Server service and SQL Server Agent):
NET STOP SQLSERVERAGENT
NET STOP MSSQLSERVER
NET START MSSQLSERVER
NET START SQLSERVERAGENT

SQL Server Reporting Services:
NET STOP ReportServer
NET START ReportServer

SQL Server Analysis Services:
NET STOP MSSQLServerOLAPService
NET START MSSQLServerOLAPService

    Line stopping also known as stopple with a hot tap, hot tap has been completed, then another machine.

    The stopple method is used to insert a plugging into a pipe which is temporarily block sections of live pipelines. This method is used for a number of reasons like the affected section of a pipeline could be tapped, plugged and safety isolated without shutting down.
